Hands up if you’re excited about WSOP 2022. We know we are. The action at the World Series of Poker is always gripping. So let’s find out what this year’s epic poker series has in store…
1. WSOP 2022 runs from 31 May through 20 July
That’s right, for three glorious weeks this summer, the poker action is going to be non-stop.
2. It’s the 53rd World Series
The first WSOP was in 1970 and the tournament series has never missed a year since then. Speaking of early WSOP years, learn about the pivotal role it played in cementing Texas Hold’em as everyone’s favorite poker game.
3. For the first time, the WSOP has Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas as joint hosts
It feels like the Rio All-Suite has held the WSOP forever. Well, it has been a long time. Seventeen long years. But now, WSOP is switching things up with Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas playing host.
Both venues are beside each other, connected and share a parking garage too. So it shouldn’t be too difficult to get from one to the other during WSOP 2022.
4. WSOP 2022 is a homecoming of sorts…
Interestingly, Bally’s is set to have a makeover and rebrand in the coming months. It’s going to be transformed into the Horseshoe. If you’re interested in Las Vegas history, you might remember that the original Horseshoe is where the WSOP began.
5. This year has record breaking capacity
WSOP 2022 is set to have the largest capacity of any World Series so far. There are 600 tables across 200,000 sq ft in total.
6. WSOP 2022 has 88 live bracelet events
And it’s going to be a whole lot of fun to see who wins what.
7. Buy-ins start at $400
The WSOP is seen as the height of poker. And in many ways, it is. But it might surprise you to know that some of the buy-ins aren’t quite as sky high as you’d think, starting from $400.
Of course, they also stretch much higher for those serious players with deep pockets. Buy-ins max out at $250,000.
8. The WSOP 2022 schedule is now available
If you want to take a closer look at what events are going to happen and when, the WSOP 2022 schedule is available in all its glory on the official WSOP website.
9. The Main Event runs from 3 through 16 July
The Main Event, also known as the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em World Championship, is arguably the most important tournament in the global poker calendar. The last two days are set aside for the all-important final table.
Who’s going to win? Who can tell. We’re going to certainly keep an eye out for all the players who had a particularly fruitful 2021. But if we’re being honest, we’d absolutely love for a female player to take the crown for the first time.
10. There’s a freeroll at this year’s WSOP
We know we said earlier on that buy-ins start at $400. But there’s actually an even thriftier WSOP option this year. Well, in a way. The Tournament of Champions, running 18 through 20 July is a freeroll.
It costs nothing to enter, but there’s a catch. You can only take part if you’re a bracelet or gold ring winner for WSOP 2022. That means all the stars from the series will take part, competing all the while for a $1,000,00 prize pool. And, for the kudos that comes with becoming the victor of the Tournament of Champions.
11. You can watch the action on TV or stream it online
When you want to stay up to date, there are lots of ways. CBS Sports is broadcasting 18 bracelet events, including a minimum of 15 hours of coverage for the Main Event alone.
Meanwhile, PokerGo is going to be providing a daily streaming service.
