If this past weekend in the Bundesliga had it all, plenty of goals, drama at both ends of the table and
That is because on Tuesday night, the midweek action kicks off with arguably the biggest game in. German football and one that could well decide the destination of the Bundesliga title. Borussia Dortmund face Bayern Munich in Dortmund knowing that a win would move them just a point behind Bayern at the top of the table. A draw would see Bayern remain four points clear while a Bayern win would open up a seemingly unassailable 7 point lead over their main rivals.

It was another solid weekend for the top two with Bayern and Dortmund claiming good wins against
Schalke’s form went from bad to worse with a 3-0 home defeat by Augsburg, while Werder Bremen picked up a massive three points with a 1-0 win away to Freiburg. Hertha Berlin continued their revival with a thumping 4-0 win in the Berlin derby against Union, while the last game of the weekend had late drama with Cologne scoring twice in the 88th and 91st minute to earn a 2-2 home draw with Fortuna Dusseldorf.
The weekend results now sets up an intriguing midweek matchday as the top two, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will face off at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night (Kick off 5.30pm GMT).
Although there is a full complement of games in the Bundesliga across Tuesday and Wednesday night, it is the Dortmund v Bayern game that has attracted most attention, so let us take a closer look at this massive game, one that could well decide the eventual destination of the Bundesliga title.
There is no doubt that this is an absolutely crucial game for both sides. A win for Dortmund would move them just a point behind Bayern and really open up the title race over the last six games. A win for Bayern would move them seven points ahead of Dortmund with just six games left to play and that would be an impossible gap to claw back given the form Munich are in (15 wins and 1 draw in their last 16 Bundesliga games).
Mats Hummels is a slight concern for this game. The ex-Bayern defender, who Dortmund resigned
Axel Witsel and Marco Reus however both look set to miss out as Dortmund chase the win to close the gap at the top to a single point, knowing that a draw will likely not be enough for them.
Dortmund Predicted Team (5-4-1) – Burki (Gk), Hakimi (DMr), Guerriero (DMl), Hummels (Dc), Piszcek (Dc), Akanji (Dc), Can (Mc), Dahoud (Mc), Brandt (AMl), Sancho (AMr), Haaland (Ac)
Bayern’s biggest injury concern is midfield Thiago, who missed the game with Frankfurt at the
Philippe Coutinho and Constantin Tolisso will miss out for sure for Bayern with doubts also over Thiago as mentioned above and defender Sule who is not quite match fit.
Munich Predicted Team – (4-2-3-1) – Neuer (Gk), Pavard (Dr), Davies (Dl), Alaba (Dc), Boateng (Dc), Kimmich (Mc), Goretzka (Mc), Gnabri (AMl), Muller (AMc), Coman (AMr), Lewandowski (Ac)
Of the two teams, I think Dortmund have been the slightly more impressive since the restart, ostensibly due to their better defensive performances. That said, I can see both teams scoring a goal in this game, so I do feel the both teams to score bet is a great value option. I fancy a Dortmund victory here by a scoreline of either 2-1 or maybe 3-2 if we get an early enough goal.
When it comes to goalscorers, Robert Lewandowski is very short odds for a good reason, but I feel Erling Braut Haaland at 4/6 is well worth a flutter at those odds, especially after he drew a rare blank at the weekend away to Wolfsburg. He doesn’t tend to go too many games without a goal.
Put these eight games, plus a Dortmund win over Munich into an accumulator at bet365 and you could earn a return of 1,491.88/1 based on the current odds, which for a £10 bet, would see you win £36,290.70 if the bet is a winner!
