The Premier League is back tonight and there is already huge anticipation as to how the games that will shape the remainder of the season will pan out. In our earlier article this week, we have already taken a closer look at the games coming up both tonight and across the first full weekend of action and given you our tips for each game in the process.
No doubt the return of the Premier League will also see a swell of interest in betting on the games and with many people perhaps indulging themselves with a wager for the first time, now is a good opportunity to perhaps recap on one of the most popular forms of football bet, the accumulator (or ‘acca’ as it is sometimes known). In explaining this bet we will also explore why bet365 Sport offers punters interested in acca betting a superb extra bonus.
One thing is certain and that is football fans and punters all over the world love the accumulator bet as a way to risk a small amount of money for a potentially large reward. So, what are these bets, how do they work, how do you place one and why is bet365 a great place to place them?
Read on to find out!
What is an Accumulator and how does it work?
An accumulator bet, or ‘acca’ if you prefer, is a bet that comprises of a number of selections, each of which must be a winner in order for the bet to win. If one or more of your selections are not winning bets, then the whole accumulator bet will be a loser, regardless of how other selections perform.
Accumulators have been around for a very long time and they can be used on a wide range of sporting events such as in horse racing, where punters can try and predict the winner of a number of races in a single bet. However, they are particularly popular with football punters and are one of the most commonly placed soccer bets made in the world today.
Generally, accumulators usually focus on the Full Time Result market of a soccer game, but newer markets have opened up, such as the both team to score bet, as well as the combination match result and both teams to score bets, which allows punters more flexibility when deciding which bets to combine on their accumulator.
Part of the popularity of accumulator bets is the fact that as players put additional selections on their coupon, the odds of these bets then ‘accumulate’ into a longer odds bet. As such, accumulator bets are a good way to risk a generally small amount of money, but potentially win a significant amount if your accumulator is a winner.
Terms used for accumulators are either Double (for two selection accumulators), Treble (for three selection accumulators) or the number of selections with the suffix “-fold” written after them, so for a five-selection bet, that would be a five-fold accumulator.
The key thing to remember with accumulator bets is that the more selections you string together in one, the greater the potential returns will be, but also the more difficult it is to actually hit a winning accumulator.
How do I place an Accumulator bet?
Let’s show you this with an example from this coming weekend’s games in the Premier League and I am going to use the Match Result market for simplicity.
In this first screen, you can see that I have picked the result of three Premier League matches. As you can see from the bet slip. I have backed Manchester United to beat Tottenham, Wolves to beat West Ham and Newcastle and Sheffield United to play out a draw. By combining the odds on these three bets, my accumulator (at the odds offered by bet365 at the time) would pay out at 14.99/1.
So, if I place a £10 bet on this treble bet, and the bet is a winner, I would win £149.90, plus get my stake money back.
However, If I were to add two more selections to that treble to make it a five-fold acca (as shown in the second screen), by adding Leicester to beat Watford and Norwich and Southampton to draw, then the odds on that bet increase markedly to 117.05/1, which means the same £10 stake on this bet would return £1170.50.
If I then added Bournemouth and Crystal Palace to draw to make it a six-fold accumulator, the odds increase sharply once again to 382.66/1. That means the same £10 stake would see me win £3826.60 if all six of those selections prove correct.
As you can see, as you add more selections, the size of the odds on your bet can increase markedly and it is this which appeals so much to punters.
However, if you place your accumulator bet at bet365 Sport, then there is another feature on the site which makes these particular types of bets so appealing.
Bet365 Sport’s Soccer Accumulator Bonus
When you place a qualifying accumulator bonus at bet365 Sport, if you win then your bet could be due an even greater return thanks to the Soccer Accumulator Bonus.
Place a bet on the Premier League for example, of three or more selections from either the Full Time Result, Both Teams to Score or Result/Both Teams to Score markets, and if your bet is a winner then you will receive a bonus paid on top of your winnings.
The more selections in your successful accumulator, the higher the bonus can be up to 70% of your winnings being the highest amount (or £100,000 maximum). Quite simply, placing an acca bet at bet365 Sport is likely to pay you more if you win thanks to this great value bonus, which is automatically applied to all qualifying accumulators.
The key terms and conditions for using bet365’s Soccer Accumulator Bonus are shown below and you can the full details of the offer on the bet365 Sport site.
Soccer Accumulator Bonus
Up to 70% bonus for accumulators on selected leagues at bet365.
Applies to pre-match accumulators of 3+ selections on the standard Full Time Result, Both Teams to Score or Result/Both Teams to Score markets only. Bonus percentage is dependent on the number of selections. Bonus capped at £100k and applied to returns. Bet restrictions and T&Cs apply. New and eligible customers only.
Let’s now show you how important the bet365 Soccer Accumulator Bonus could be using the six-fold accumulator we outlined above. You may remember my six predictions in the Premier League offered an odds of 382.66/1 on all six being correct with bet365. If I bet £10, then I would stand to win £3826.60 as standard if the bet comes in.
However, as you can see by the screenshot which outlines the Soccer Accumulator Bonus percentages, any qualifying six-fold accumulator placed with bet365 Sport would see the lucky winner land a 15% bonus on top of their winnings.
The 15% is calculated as a total of your winnings from the original bet, so it is 15% of £3826.60, which is £573.99 in bonuses. This means that instead of winning £3826.60 with this bet, with bet365 you would actually receive £3826.60 in standard winnings plus £573.99 in bonuses, for a total of £4,400.59.
Accumulator betting is hugely exciting, difficult to predict but also great fun. It is also one of the most popular low risk/high reward bets you can make today. If you love football and are excited about the return of the Premier League over the coming weeks, then placing an accumulator bet with bet365, especially with its Soccer Accumulator Bonus in play, is a great way to enjoy a wager on the action.
