Here’s the results from NFL Gameday 5.
Bye Week: Philadelphia Eagles (2-2), Tennessee Titans (1-3), Los Angeles Chargers (2-2), Detroit Lions (3-1)
This week, several significant stories emerged in the NFL. Controversial pundit Stephen A. Smith sparked debate by suggesting that Tyreek Hill's move from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Miami Dolphins might be a mistake. Hill's performance will be closely watched as the season progresses, especially with the Dolphins struggling on offense.
The New Orleans Saints faced challenges with the absence of Taysom Hill, which significantly impacted their offensive game plan against the Chiefs. The Saints struggled against the Chiefs' excellent defense, which has consistently held high-scoring opponents below their averages this season.
The biggest news of the week came from the Big Apple, where the New York Jets parted ways with head coach Robert Saleh after a disappointing 2-3 start to the season. The Jets lost 17-23 to the 5-0 Vikings in London on Sunday, which was the final straw for the Jets hierarchy, who cited below expected performances for the sacking of Saleh. Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich has stepped up to interim head coach ahead of next week's Monday Night game against divisional rivals, the Buffalo Bills.
Following on from the sacking of Saleh, Jets owner Woody Johnson has pleaded with sack-machine outside linebacker Haason Reddick to end his holdout. Reddick was signed by the Jets in a trade from the Arizona Cardinals, but has refused to play unless he reworks his current deal, which is set to expire at the end of this season. “Haason, get in your car, drive down the '95 and come to the New York Jets, and we can meet you and give you an escort right in the building.” stated Johnson.
There's been no movement on proposed trade deals for wide receivers Davante Adams (Las Vegas Raiders) or DeAndre Hopkins (Tennessee Titans) from last week, although it is believed several teams are thought to be interested in trading for a veteran wide receiver.
Former Pro-Bowl linebacker Devin White has been released by the Philadelphia Eagles in a somewhat surprising move. The fifth pick in the 2019 draft was released by the team that drafted him, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, at the end of last season signing a one-year deal with the Eagles this summer. White had been inactive for the Eagles opening four games of the season prior to his release.

Gameday 5 was a pivotal one in many ways for a number of teams. There was the usual mix of expected and unexpected outcomes in games. Key wins for the Giants, Bears, Cardinals and Broncos seem to indicate better times ahead for these teams, but losses for the Browns, Rams, Patriots and Panthers suggest there's a lot of work needed to be done for their respective head coaches.
