legendary nfl players

We could spend all day talking about legendary NFL players. But we won’t. Instead, we’re going to focus on three of our favorites so we can all spend a few minutes reliving their glory days. So brew up a coffee, have a couple of cookies, pull up a chair and get lost in these fantastic sporting records.

San Francisco 49ers’s Jerry Rice

When we say “San Francisco 49ers’s Jerry Rice“, we’re not really telling the whole story. It’s true that Rice spent the majority of his 20 NFL years with the 49ers, but he finished up his colorful career with the Oakland Raiders and played a couple of games with the Seattle Seahawks too.

After amazing success at Mississippi Valley State, Rice joined the San Francisco 49ers in 1985. He won three Super Bowl titles with the 49ers, before moving to play four seasons with the Oakland Raiders from 2000. Then he rounded off his career with Seattle Seahawks games in 2004.

His long career saw him scoring more points than any non-kicked in NFL history (1,256), as well as holding the record for the most receiving yards, highest number of career receptions, fastest player to reach 100 touchdowns and many more amazing career records.

New York Giants’s Lawrence Taylor

In 1999, Lawrence Taylor was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. This marked his glittering career throughout the 1980s and into the early 1990s with the New York Giants. The linebacker spent all of his 12 years at the NFL with the Giants. From 1984 until 1990 he reliably produced double-digit sacks every single season. His peak came in 1986, with a 20.5 sack.

Widely credited with changing the way the NFL works to this day, he revolutionized defensive game plans with pass rushing schemes, offensive formations and line blocking. Taylor is also a triple winner of Defensive Player Of The Year, which is a mark to just how much of an impact he made during his time.

Cleveland Browns’s Jim Brown

Jim Brown got drafted into the Cleveland Browns in 1957. And when Brown met the Browns, something magical happened. He dominated the field until the 1960s and continued to impress for the decade he played.Jerr

To this day, people say he’s one of the best running backs the sport has ever seen. And considering his record-breaking career, it’s no wonder why. He only played for nine seasons and led the league in rushing yards for all but one of those. For three seasons, he was also recognized as the MVP of the NFL.

He broke records for carrying the ball (2,359 times), rushing yards (12,312) and touchdowns (106) total during his career, and those held until his retirement. In 1971 he got the recognition he truly deserves by being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
