Most weeks in eSports betting there is a Major event taking place somewhere in the world, with several minor events also scheduled that will keep the bookmakers satisfied offering punters a chance to bet on the outcome of key matchups.
However it is pretty rare that you find three of the biggest games each having one of their biggest and most important tournaments all taking place at the same time. Fans of League of Legends, StarCraft 2 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive are in for a real treat this week therefore, with a host of betting to be available across three major tournaments.
Let’s take a closer look at each of the three massive events taking place this week and what the betting markets look like in each.
League of Legend World Championships – Second Phase Group Games
By the time you are reading this article on Sunday evening, or perhaps Monday morning, the first set of fixtures in each of the four groups in Riot Games League of Legends World Championships 2015 will be complete. Each of the 16 teams will have played each of their group opponents once and we’ll have a better idea of how each is performing.
It’s fair to say that the first few days of action at Le Dock Pullman in Paris has seen a mixture of results. Favourites SK Telecom T1 have confirmed their undoubted quality winning all three of their first group games to put themselves in a very strong position in Group C, other teams with a 100 per cent record heading into Sunday are Cloud 9 (Group B), Counter Logic Gaming (Group A) and both KT Rolster and Origen (Group D).
Once Sunday’s first phase group games are completed, the action begins again at the same venue on Thursday with the six remaining games in Group A set to be played.
This is a Group which saw a real upset in the first round with yoe Flash Wolves emerging as surprise winners over KOO Tigers and their rematch (in the penultimate game on Thursday) could likely decide which team, along with the unbeaten Counter Logic Gaming makes it through to the last eight.
Friday’s action comes in Group C where favourites SK Telecom T1 should confirm their place in the last eight after dominating in their first three games. They will probably be joined by Edward Gaming in the knockout phase, unless H2k Gaming can stage a surprise and defeat the experienced team from China.
Saturday and the action focuses on Group D. Here Origen and KT Rolster lead the way and it is likely these two teams will earn a place in the final, unless Team Solomid or LGD Gaming can bounce back from losig their opening two games.
Finally, next Sunday sees the final round of Group B matches played with European hopes very much with Fnatic. However Cloud9 lead the way in this group and ahq e-Sports Club have arguably the easier fixtures remaining and could pip Fnatic to the final qualifying spot.
With 24 matches to play over the four days, there will be a large number of bets available in this huge eSports event and the great news is that Bet365 Sports have really ramped up their eSports betting options in recent weeks to offer punters more chances to bet on more markets in eSports than ever before.
SK Telecom Proleague Playoffs Final
By this time next week, after a competition that started way back in January this year, we will finally know who the overall champion is of the SK Telecom Proleague. After four rounds of gaming produced three different winners of each round, plus a the playoffs, the eight teams competing for the title have been whittled down to two.
The top seeds are two-time Round winners SK Telecom T1, the undoubted favourites for the event after their victories in Round 1 and Round 3 of the competition. The team also reached the First Round of the playoffs in Round 2 and were losing finalists in Round 4 just a few weeks ago. They have won 78% of their matches, by far the best percentage in the league and have won 65% of the Individual Maps the team has played, again a league best.
Their opponents are the playoff specialists Jin Air Green Wings, who have never failed to reach the Finals of a Round after qualifying for the Playoffs, twice going through from the First Round in the Round Playoffs to lose in the final and then repeating that feat once again in the End of Season Playoffs.
Thanks to their playoff performance Jin Air have actually played more and won more matches than any other team in the SK Telecom Proleague this year, playing 40 matches and winning 26, but that percentage win rate of 65%is 13% below that of their opponents and their Map win rate of 58% is also 7% shy of SK Telecom T1’s mark.
While Jin Air may have top form in the playoffs, they are yet to record a win in the Round having been losing finalists three times. Will SK Telecom T1, who beat Jin Air twice in the Round Final this season (4-2 in Round 1, 4-3 in Round 3) make it hat-trick of wins?
Bet365 have already priced the odds up for this huge game and the bookmakers have SK Telecom T1 as the odds on favourites at 1/2, with Jin Air Greenwings a 6/4 shot.
