With events such as the Cheltenham Festival and Grand National in horse racing, Premier League Darts, Six Nations as well as a myriad of football tournaments, it’s not surprising that the first Baller League in England has gone a little under the radar!
Well, in this post, we aim to change that. We’ll bring you details of what this exciting six-a-side soccer tournament offers, who is taking part, the prizes on offer and of course, where you can find betting on the tournament every week (Hint – bet365 Sport is a great place to start!).
The Baller League originated in Germany as a six-a-side tournament that featured a combination of amateur players, semi-pro players, retired former footballers and a wealth if famous individuals from social media outlets and similar.
It proved to be a smash hit success in Germany and in November 2024, it was announced that new Baller League’s would be set up in 2025 in both the United Kingdom and the United States.
Well, the Baller League UK is set to kick off this week, so let’s examine how this six-a-side tournament will proceed.
Baller League is based on six-a-side soccer rules, but updated for the new generation of football fans, featuring some twists and turns to the usual gameplay. Outlined below are some of the more standard rules:
However, alongside these standard rules, there are a number of additional rules which help spice the competition up.
Tournament organisers have promised a number of other exciting twists and turns, some of which may not be revealed until the game is underway.
The Baller League Season starts on Monday 24th March and is played every Monday evening over twelve weeks.
The teams will play each other once over the course of the 12 weeks with all matches taking place at the Copper Box Arena in London.
After the 11 league games have been completed, the top four teams will progress into the finals section of the competition when two semi-finals will decide the finalists who will battle it out to become the first Baller League UK winners on June 11th.
KSI is the president of the tournament in the UK, and players are paid £400 per night each for participating in the games.
One of the most exciting aspects of the new league is the fact managers can pick two Wild Cards each week and that the MVP will be able to pick a ‘legend’ to play for their team the following week.
Who these Wild Cards and Legends are remains to be seen, but the likelihood is that it will comprise of former football stars who are freshly retired, or TV and Social Media celebrities.
