Sporting Lisbon produced an outstanding comeback from 3-0 down to Bodo/Glimt earning a 3-0 win inside 90 minutes to force extra time, where they scored twice for a 5-3 aggregate win. They now face Arsenal in the quarterfinals.
Down 3-0 from the first leg in Madrid, Manchester City's hopes of progress ended when Bernardo Silva was sent off for handling the ball on the goal line. Vinicius Jr scored the penalty and despite Haaland's equaliser, Real hung on comfortably to progress into the quarter finals 4-1 on aggregate.
Bayern completed a routine second leg against Atalanta, winning 4-1 in Munich to record a 10-2 aggregate win. Harry Kane scored his 50th goal in the Champions League in the game.
Tottenham's spirited 3-2 win over Atletico Madrid was in vain as Atletico triumphed 7-5 on aggregate.
Despite a strong first half display, Newcastle capitulated in the second half against Barcelona, going down 7-2 on the night and 8-3 on aggregate.
Liverpool bounced back from a 1-0 defeat in the first leg to beat Galatasaray 4-0 at Anfield. Mo Salah notched his 50th Champions League goal despite missing a penalty in the first half.
