There’s now been two full weeks of Premier League Darts action to look back on and we will also give you our rundown of the matches taking place on Night Three of the tournament, which takes place at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Here’s how the first two weeks of action unfolded:

Night One – 3Arena Dublin

  • Mensur Suljovic (103.71) 5-7 Simon Whitlock (106.49)
  • Gary Anderson (82.46) 5-7 Michael Smith (89.12)
  • Daryl Gurney (93.23) 6-6 Raymond van Barneveld (93.78)
  • Michael van Gerwen (100.80) 7-2 Rob Cross (98.85)
  • Peter Wright (92.93) 6-6 Gerwyn Price (93.51)

Highest Checkout – Simon Whitlock with 160

Most 180s – Daryl Gurney 5

Night 180s – 25

Tournament 180s – 25

The highest quality game of the night was the opening match with Simon Whitlock finding something like his best form to post a 106.59 average in a stunning win over Mensur Suljovic. Michael Smith prevailed over Gary Anderson, with Anderson suffering a lot with back issues that meant he was nowhere near his best and that allowed Smith, who was also a little below par, to claim a victory.

Raymond van Barneveld came from 6-3 down to claim a point with Irishman Daryl Gurney in what was an exciting clash, while Michael van Gerwen continued Rob Cross’ run of poor form since he was crowned World Champion with a comfortable 7-2 win over the Englishman. The final match of the night saw Gerwyn Price earn a point in a battling 6-6 draw with Peter Wright with Price coming back from 6-3 down to earn his first ever Premier League point.

Night Two – Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff

  • Michael Smith (99.15) 7-4 Daryl Gurney (101.96)
  • Rob Cross (87.74) 1-7 Simon Whitlock (93.14)
  • Michael van Gerwen (101.12) 5-7 Peter Wright (101.04)
  • Gerwyn Price (92.71) 3-7 Gary Anderson (99.22)
  • Raymond van Barneveld (100.39) 7-5 Mensur Suljovic (102.55)

Highest Checkout – Michael van Gerwen with 170

Most 180s – Gary Anderson 5

Night 180s – 28

Tournament 180s – 53

The second night of action saw a cracking opening game that ebbed and flowed between Michael Smith and Daryl Gurney. Both players improved on their showing from the opening night of action but it was Smith who held his nerve landing an impressive 7-4 win. Rob Cross’ woes continued with a poor display in a 7-1 thumping by Simon Whitlock with the Wizard of Oz now confirmed as the early pacesetter in the table alongside Michael Smith, both with two wins from two.

The biggest shock of the night came in the third game where Peter Wright earned his first victory in a televised event over Michael van Gerwen with a 7-5 win, that despite van Gerwen hitting a maximum finish 170 in one of the legs.  Next up was Gary Anderson, who claimed his back was much better than on the opening night and so it proved with the Scotsman cruising to a fine 7-3 win over Gerwyn Price who didn’t perform well in front of his home Welsh crowd. The final game was a cracker with Mensur Suljovic once again posting a very laudable average of over 102, but this time he lost out to the better finishing of Raymond van Barneveld in a 7-5 defeat.

Night Three Preview & TipsBet365 Darts Grand SLam 2015

The third night of Premier League action takes place on Thursday 15th February at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The night’s matches are as follows (odds provided courtesy of Coral Sport).

  • Mensur Suljovic (7/5) v Michael Smith (7/5) – (3/1 the draw)
  • Daryl Gurney (5/6) v Gerwyn Price (12/5) – (10/3 the draw)
  • Peter Wright (6/5) v Rob Cross (7/4) – (10/3 the draw)
  • Gary Anderson (7/2) v Michael van Gerwen (4/7) – (7/2 the draw)
  • Simon Whitlock (12/5) v Raymond van Barneveld (5/6) – (10/3 the draw)

Our tips for each of the five matches are outlined below and we would strongly advise you to sign up with Coral Sport to enjoy all the great betting available on the Premier League Darts, as well as huge numbers of other sports events throughout the year.

  • Mensur Suljovic v Michael Smith

Winning key legs at the right time is vital to Premier League success as Michael Smith has shown. The St Helens professional has won both his opening games despite only fleetingly showing his best form, but he has won crucial legs at crucial times to secure those wins. Suljovic has been arguably the most consistent player in the Premier League so far based on average but has lost vital games at key points to lose both his opening matches.  That said, I think Suljovic’s bad luck can’t continue for long if he plays like he has been and I’m backing him to get his first win here.

Our Tip: Suljovic to win at 7/5 with Coral Sport.

  • Daryl Gurney v Gerwyn Price

All four of the Premier League debutants have endured tough starts this year and so this game between two of them is huge. Price has been the more consistent player but Gurney has the ability to hit a much higher three dart average than his counterpart. Price’s checkouts have been better than the Irishman though and that is something Gurney will have to put right if he is to progress in the tournament. I think this is a close one and I would not be surprised if this ends in a draw.

Our Tip – The draw at 10/3 with Coral

  • Peter Wright v Rob Cross

Peter Wright will be buzzing after his superb win over Michael van Gerwen last week and that puts him in a strong position in the table after two games. The Scot was poorly before the World Championship but looked back to his best last week against the Dutch World Number 1. Rob Cross looked hugely out of sorts last week and has endured a miserable start to the Premier League winning just three legs of darts in his two games so far. He got back to winning ways in the UK Open qualifiers at the weekend so he should be more confident here, but it is hard to see Wright letting him wriggle off the hook here.

Our Tip – Peter Wright to win at 6/5 with Coral

  • Gary Anderson v Michael van Gerwen

Possibly the two most naturally gifted darts players of the modern generation will clash once again in Newcastle in what should be a cracker. Anderson’s back didn’t trouble him in his win over Price last week and van Gerwen will be itching to put things right after losing to Peter Wright in his second match in the league. With both players in 2 points, both will be chomping at the bit to get a win here and I can see this one being close but I am backing the Dutchman to just about come out on top.

Our Tip – Michael van Gerwen to win at 4/7 with Coral

  • Simon Whitlock v Raymond van Barneveld

Table-topping Simon Whitlock looks to make it three wins from three against the darting legend Raymond van Barneveld in the final game of the night in Newcastle. Barney’s win over Mensur Suljovic last weekend put him into third in the table and that is a good start for the Dutchman as he usually takes a little time to get going in the Premier League. Whitlock though is in superb form, especially on the doubles and this should be a close one. I think this will go down to the last leg but that Barney will just about pinch the win.

Our Tip – Raymond van Barneveld to win at 5/6 with Coral
