Football

Domestic action has already resumed across many European leagues now with the Premier League back (and Liverpool have already been declared Champions), while the Bundesliga finished its last domestic game at the weekend, but the title is still to be settled in La Liga in Spain and Serie A in Italy to name but two.

Betting is available on these matches and also domestic cup games, such as the forthcoming FA Cup Semifinals which are to take place at Wembley on the weekend of Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July. We already know Arsenal will face Manchester City in one semi, with Manchester United taking on Chelsea in another. This week will also see the German Cup Final with Bayern Munich looking for a domestic double as they take on Bayer Leverkusen.

  • Champions League & Europa League & Euro 2020

Both the top competitions in Europe will get back underway at the start of August although both will be played in a very different format.

From the quarterfinal stage onwards, all matches will be played in a straight knockout format in both competitions. The Europa League will be played across multiple venues in Germany, with the Champions League being contested in Lisbon in Portugal.

Before that, the Round of 16 second leg ties will be completed at venues yet to be confirmed, and in the case of Europa League ties that still had both Round of 16 ties to play, these games will now be contested in a one-off match at a neutral venue. These games will start on the 5th and 6th August in the Europa League and the 7th-8th August in the Champions League.

The Europa League quarterfinals will start on the 10th August with the Champions League starting on the 12th, with the semi-finals and finals to be played a week and ten days or so later in both competitions.

The other big football tournament this summer in Europe, Euro 2020, has been postponed and will be played in the summer of 2021 instead.

Tips – Back Man City to win the Champions League outright at 3/1 and you could back the hugely successful Sevilla to land the Europa League again at 8/1.

Boxing

  • Matchroom Fight Camp Has Three Dates in August

After setting up their own boxing camp essentially in their own back garden, Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom have set three dates in August, 1st, 14th and 22nd, when they will be hosting a number of top quality matches in the brand new venue.

The first night will see a potential classic as Ted Cheeseman takes on Sam Eggington for the IBF super-welterweight title, while other big names on the bill include Fabio Wardley, Felix Cash, Anthony Fowler and Natasha Jonas.

On the final weekend, Dillian Whyte will take on Alexander Povetkin, while Irish ace Katie Taylor will also be in action in what is the star event of the summer of the series and which will be shown on Sky Box Office.

Tip – Don’t back against Dillian Whyte enhancing his claims for a shot at one of the world titles here with a win over Alexander Povetkin. (1/4).

Golf

The Open Championship may be off the calendar this year but plans are already afoot for the three Majors contested in the United States to be played later on in the year. Instead of being the final Major of the year, the USPGA Championship will be the first and will be contested in its early August slot in the golfing calendar.

Just over a month later, the players will then be contesting the US Open and then in early November, The Masters will also be contested, much later than its usual early April date in the calendar.

It is worth noting that all these events could see a significantly reduced field but many of the world’s top stars will be competing in all three events, such as Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Tiger Woods and Brooks Koepka.

Tip – Back in form Rory McIlroy to finally land his first Masters Green Jacket in November at odds of 15/2.

Snooker

The World Snooker Championship has been rescheduled to start on the 31st June and will run for three weeks into mid-August. The best players in the world will battle it out at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield with current champion Judd Trump the heavy favourite to retain his title, although Rocket Ronnie O’Sullivan is a 9/2 shot with bet365 at the time of writing.

Tip – Back Rocket Ronnie to go down a storm in Sheffield at 9/2.\
