So after a busy period of games over the weekend, the Premier
League is now underway and we can look forward to nine months of frantic action both domestically and across Europe as the teams battle it out for a range of different honours. Of course, football betting remains a hugely important part of the betting community in the UK and there’s a lot more to bet on than simply which team will win the Premier League.
In addition to all the standard betting you will get each week on the Premier League, there are a number of other markets that have proven popular with punters over the course of the years. In this article, we are going to take a look at some of these popular betting markets, all of which are available now at bet365 Sport, and give you our tips on who we think are the options to back in each.

So having already looked at which team we would tip to win the Premier League season last week, let’s now take a look at some of the other great value bets we think offer punters a good chance of a return on the Premier League at bet365.
Premier League Outright Bets for Season 2019/20
One of the most popular bets is on which player will finish as the
Premier League leading goalscorer and there are a number of prime candidates. Last season Mo Salah, Sadio Mane (both of Liverpool) and Arsenal’s Pierre Emerick Aubameyang all finished joint top with 22 goals apiece, Salah won the year before with 32 goals while Harry Kane of Tottenham won the two years prior to that.
All of those players are in with a great chance of landing this honour, along wit the likes of Man City duo Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero. Longer shots include Man Utd’s Marcus Rashford, Leicester’s Jamie Vardy, Alexander Lacazette of Arsenal and Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino.
Personally, after missing out on the end of last season, I think Harry Kane is the smart bet here and at 9/2 he is where I would put my money.
- To Win the Premier League Without the Big Six
Each season, it generally only tends to be the really big teams, or as they are collectively known ‘the big six’ that stand any real chance of Premier League success. Leicester, in recent times, are the only team to have broken that stranglehold, but it does mean that betting on this market can be a bit limited.
A better option if you want a better value bet is to bet on which team would finish top of the Premier League table, if you discounted the big six teams. This may well be the team that finished 7
th in the table (if the Big Six take the top six spots as usual), but it may well be one that finally breaks the stranglehold of the top half dozen teams and perhaps takes a Europa League spot or maybe even a Champions League berth.
To my mind, there are three teams that stand a chance here, Everton and Wolves (both 10/3) and Leicester (4/1) and of that trio, I think Leicester City have the best chance of finishing top of the Premier League without the big six included.
As well as team’s good fortune, you can also bet on teams having
the opposite and I think there are some great value bets on which teams will be relegated this season. I do feel that the favourites for the drop, Sheffield United at 4/6, will go down, but I am not convinced that the next two teams on the list, Norwich or Burnley, will join them.
Brighton at 15/8 I feel ate a good value bet and I also feel that without Rafael Benitez, Newcastle United could be in real trouble and at 11/4, I think that is a smart bet if you think the Toon Army could be the ones dropping through the Premier League trap door at the end of the season.
The Tricast bet in the Premier League is a bet on teams finishing 1
st, 2
nd and 3
rd and you have to get the correct teams in the correct order for the bet to win.
I think this season this bet is made easier as I feel there are three outstanding teams in the league that are much better than any of the others, Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester City. The question is, if that is the case how are they likely to finish.
Well, if you read my article last week you will know I tipped Liverpool to win the league, City to finish second and Spurs to finish a comfortable third and the good news is that is a 12/1 shot with bet365 in this market.
I’ve left this market to the last because I think of all the five
markets available, this one potentially offers the best value for punters. Obviously, if you are betting on this market then it makes no sense to back any of the ‘big six’ teams, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd, Tottenham, Chelsea or Arsenal as these teams are all heavily odds on to finish in the top six places in the table.
However, I feel that there are question marks over at least three of these teams, Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea in particular. Man Utd seem to be in a real state of disarray with a number of top players linked with moves away from the club, Arsenal have made no real signings to improve things for themselves on last season, despite losing Aaron Ramsey to Juventus while Chelsea have a transfer ban and an unproven manager in Frank Lampard at the helm, plus they have lost their talisman and best player Eden Hazard.
I feel that this season, perhaps more than any other in recent memory could see the sanctity of the top six for these teams exclusively, breached. Everton and Wolves are 7/2 to do precisely that and while I do not fancy Everton’s chances, I do think Wolves, who finished 7
th last season, could well be in with a chance of doing so and I think at 7/2 they are worth a bet.
However, the value bet for me here is Leicester City at 4/1. It’s worth remembering they were Champions just a few years ago and with Brendan Rogers at the helm, he knows what it takes to finish top six (even top two). They have invested well in players and I believe that they are really well set to have a great year and at 4/1 to finish in the top six, I think that is an outstanding value bet.
