Premier League Matchday 38 – Preview And Betting Tips

It is the final weekend of the Premier League season and while we already know the Champions, two of the other Champions League qualifiers and perhaps also the fourth depending on the result on Thursday night’s game between Man Utd and Chelsea, there’s still plenty to play for.

That is especiallt true at the bottom of the table where three teams are battling it out to be the odd one out and stay up, with two of the three set to play in the Championship next season.

It has been an incredibly long season and credit should go to the teams and players for keeping things so interesting for so long.

Remember, this weekend will be your last chance to enjoy some betting on the Premier League until the season starts back up again in August, so why not head over to bet365 Sport now to see what pre-match odds are available on the bets you want to make?

Premier League Matchday 37 Results

  • Tottenham 1-3 Brentford (Kane 8), (Mbuemo 50,62, Wissa 88)
  • Liverpool 1-1 Aston Villa (Firmino 89), (Ramsey 27)
  • Wolves 1-1 Everton (Hee-Chan 34), (Mina 90+9)
  • Bournemouth 0-1 Manchester United (Casemiro 9)
  • Fulham 2-2 Crystal Palace (Mitrovic 45+5(p), 61), (Eduoard 34, Ward 83)
  • Nottingham Forest 1-0 Arsenal (Awoniyi 19)
  • West Ham 3-1 Leeds United (Rice 32, Bowen 72, Lanzini 90+4), (Moreno 17)
  • Brighton 3-1 Southampton (Ferguson 29,40, Gross 69), (Elyounoussi 58)
  • Manchester City 1-0 Chelsea (Alvarez 12)
  • Newcastle United 0-0 Leicester City

Those results meant that Manchester City were declared Champions on Saturday evening after Arsenal’s defeat at Nottingham Forest ensured that City would be declared Champions.

Even so the new Champions still defeated Chelsea, despite resting nine players that played in the midweek win over Real Madrid.

Southampton were already down but the only other issue resolved at the foot of the table was that Nottingham Forest ensured their stay in the top flight with that unexpected win over Arsenal.

Meanwhile Leicester and Leeds remain in the bottom three with Everton just above them in the table and the Toffees have their fate in their own hands heading into the final day of the season.

Liverpool’s Champions League hopes took a massive hit when they could only draw with Aston Villa and Manchester United won at Bournemouth. The Reds need United to lose their last two games and to win their final game away at Southampton in order to finish fourth as Newcastle United have already claimed enough points for qualification by virtue of their point against Leicester on Monday.

Let’s now quickly preview the ten final games of the Premier League season, all of which take place on Sunday, kicking off at 4.30pm.

  • Arsenal v Wolves

Both these teams have relatively little to play for now and I think it should see a pleasant mood around the Emirates after Arsenal’s excellent season. The Gunners will want to see the fans off with a win at home and I think that is precisely what they will achieve.

Tip – Anytime Goalscorer – Martin Odegaard (Arsenal) – 2/1

  • Aston Villa v Brighton

After claiming a Europa League spot after their 1-1 draw with Manchester City in midweek, the pressure is off Brighton, but that isn’t the case for Aston Villa who need a win to ensure they play Europa Conference League football next season. This will be a very competitive game between two of the more in form Premier League sides of late.

Tip – Anytime Goalscorer – Douglas Luiz (Aston Villa) – 15/2

  • Brentford v Manchester City

I am not expecting Pep Guardiola to risk too many of his first team regulars for this game, and I can see the likes of Haaland, De Bruyne, Gundogan, Rodri, Stones and more being rested for the FA Cup Final next weekend and the Champions League final the weekend after. That may suit Brentford who could end up with a very rare double over City with a win here, but I don’t think they will quite achieve that.

Tip – Draw – 3/1

  • Chelsea v Newcastle United

Frank Lampard and Chelsea will be glad to see the back of this season and Newcastle will be focused on their Champions League campaign next season. Chelsea will want to finish the season with a better performance for their fans, but I think Newcastle will get something from this game, although what that will be I am not 100% sure.

Tip – Under 2.5 Goals in the game – 11/10

  • Crystal Palace v Nottingham Forest

Both these teams have seen an improvement in form save them from relegation with Palace the far more comfortable of the two. I can forgive Forest for perhaps taking this one easy after last week’s win over Arsenal, so I am backing Palace to score a comfortable home win here.

Tip – Crystal Palace to win and both teams to score – no – 9/4

  • Everton v Bournemouth

This is a must win game for Everton as a win means they stay up, while a draw may not be enough depending on results elsewhere. Sean Dyche knows how vital it is to the club to stay up and I have every reason to believe that they will be playing in a feverish atmosphere at Goodison Park. Bournemouth are in solid form but their away form is patchy and as such I think the home side will get the win.

Tip – HT/FT – Draw/Everton – 10/3

  • Leeds United v Tottenham Hotspurs

Leeds United must win this game and then hope they get help from Bournemouth and West Ham in order to stay up. Sam Allardyce’s team have the advantage of taking on an out of sorts Tottenham and they are capable of good wins at home. We just haven’t seen it recently which is why I think Leeds are looking doomed.

Tip – Draw – 14/5

  • Leicester City v West Ham United

It is now or never for this Leicester City team. A win and a draw or defeat for Everton will be enough to keep the Foxes in the top division. West Ham are safe and have bigger fish to fry with their Europa Conference League Final coming up so they won’t want to be too distracted here. As such, I could see the Foxes landing a win, but will it be enough?

Tip – Leicester to win and both teams to score – 5/2

  • Manchester United v Fulham

Manchester United, if form goes to plan, should already be qualified for the Champions League provided they got at least a point from their game with Chelsea on Thursday. United’s home form is very good, while Fulham’s road form has been patchy at best. The Londoners don’t need anything from this game though and I don’t think they’ll get anything.

Tip – Total Goals in game – 4 – 15/4

  • Southampton v Liverpool

Can Southampton round off their miserable season with a win? Well their home form is the worst in the Premier League and they face a Liverpool side unbeaten in their last nine Premier League games. The Reds will want to land the win to keep up their good form and I can see them doing that against a poor Saints outfit.

Tip – Curtis Jones (Liverpool) to score at any time – 10/3
