It’s all for fun of course, and it is a nice way to see how well you will do against our team of pundits that cover all the Premier League action over the course of the season!

We’ll explain the rules of the challenge below before taking you through each of our predictions for the four sets of festive fixtures in the EPL coming up from the 21st December through to the 6th January inclusive.

So let’s now give you the simple rules to follow for the festive fixtures challenge at BRC.

Festive Fixtures Challenge – The Rules!

• There are four sets of fixtures to predict the results for. They are Matchdays 17, 18, 19 and 20. 
• The challenge begins on Matchday 17 – 21st and 22nd December.
• The challenge concludes at the end of Matchday 20 on the 6th January. 
• This is purely for fun to see if you can beat our pundits!

Predicting the Festive Fixtures

• To participate, simply predict the score of each of the games shown in each of the four Matchdays over the festive period together with a player you back to be a goalscorer in the game (for 0-0 draws, the option is no goalscorer). 

Festive Fixtures Challenge – Scoring

You score points on your predictions based on the following:

• Correct Match Result Prediction (eg Home Win, Draw or Away Win) but result not predicted correctly – 2 points.
• Home Team Goals Correctly Predicted – 2 points
• Away Team Goals Correctly Predicted – 2 points
• Exact Correct Score Predicted – 10 Points (All six of the above points, plus four bonus points).
• Goalscorer Correctly Predicted – 5 points.

You can therefore score a minimum of zero points and a maximum of 15 points for each game if you get the correct score and a goalscorer pick from that game.

Festive Fixtures Challenge – Scoring Example.

Let’s say you predict the following scores for the three festive fixtures outlined below:

Aston Villa v Manchester City

Correct Score Prediction – 1-0

Goalscorer – Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)

Outcome – Aston Villa win 2-1 with goals from Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran with Erling Haaland scoring for Man City.

Points Scored – 2 for Match Result (Villa Win), 0 for Home team goals, away team goals or Exact Correct Score, but 5 points for Ollie Watkins scoring – Total Points for this fixture – 7.

Everton v Chelsea

Correct Score Prediction – 0-2

Goalscorer – Cole Palmer (Chelsea)

Outcome – Everton draw 2-2 with Chelsea. An own goal and James Garner score for Everton with Nicolas Jackson scoring both Chelsea’s goals. 

Points Scored – 0 for Correct Score, Home Goals, Exact Correct Score and Goalscorer, but 2 points scored for Chelsea scoring two as the away team (the same as in the correct score prediction) – Total Points for this fixture – 2

Tottenham Hotspurs v Liverpool

Correct Score Prediction – 1-1

Goalscorer – Mo Salah (Liverpool)

Outcome – The game finishes in a 1-1 draw, James Maddison scores for Tottenham and Mo Salah for Liverpool. 

Points Scored – You get maximum points for this as you got the correct score exactly, meaning you get 10 points based on the correct score, plus an extra five points for predicting Mo Salah as a goalscorer. – Total Points for this fixture – 15.
