It’s been a little while since we last caught up with the latest in the Premier League.

In fact, it was just before Manchester City thrashed table-toppers Arsenal 4-1 at the Etihad to put themselves in pole position for the title, that we last had a look at how things were going.

Well, we are going to remedy that fact this week with a look ahead to the games taking place across what promises to be a busy and potentially decisive weekend at both ends of the Premier League table.

We have now reached Matchday 35 in the season and after teams have caught up on games that were postponed or moved from earlier in the season, the EPL table does have a more uniform look to it.

Most teams have now played the targeted 34 games, with just Manchester City, Newcastle and Chelsea on 33, Manchester United in 32 and Brighton on 31, though those latter two teams are playing tonight (Thursday Night).

That means by Saturday United will have played 33 games and Brighton 32.

  • Crystal Palace 4-3 West Ham (Ayew 15, Zaha 20, Schlupp 30, Eze 66 pen), (Soucek 9, Antonio 35, Aguerd 72)
  • Brighton 6-0 Wolves (Undav 6,66, Gross 13,26, Welbeck 39,48)
  • Brentford 2-1 Nottm Forest (Toney 82, Dasilva 90+4), (Danilo 45+1)
  • Manchester United 1-0 Aston Villa (Fernandes 39)
  • Fulham 1-2 Manchester City (Vinicius 15), (Haaland 3 pen, Alvarez 36)
  • Bournemouth 4-1 Leeds Utd (Lerma 20,24, Solanke 63, Semenyo 90+1), (Bamford 32)

Midweek EPL Matches

Wednesday 3rd May

  • Liverpool 1-0 Fulham (Salah 39 pen)
  • Manchester City 3-0 West Ham Utd (Ake 49, Haaland 70, Foden 85)

Thursday 4th May

  • Brighton & Hove Albion v Manchester United (Kick off 8pm)

Those results now see City one point ahead of Arsenal on 79 and with a game in hand on the Gunners. Newcastle remain third, two points ahead of Man Utd, who play their game in hand against Brighton tonight and a win would move the Red Devils back into 3rd.

Liverpool move five points clear in fifth and are four points behind United and six behind Newcastle having played 2 and 1 games more respectively with Spurs and Aston Villa in 6th and 7th having played 34 games and amassed 54 points.

Brighton could move up significantly as they have 3 games in hand on many teams and 2 on most others and they are 8th on 52 points with a much better goal difference than 3 of the teams above them.

At the bottom, it is desperation time for Southampton who are now seven points off safety. West Ham in 15th are not yet safe but have a 4 point gap on Leicester, Leeds and Nottm Forest who all have 30 points, while Everton lie 19th with 29 points.

Let’s now preview the complete set of games taking place from Saturday to Monday later this week.

Please note there is no 12.30pm game in the EPL this week due to King Charles III Coronation taking place at the same time, with that game being moved to 3pm.

Premier League Matchday 35

All odds shown are courtesy of bet365 Sport and were correct at the time of writing. All games kick off at 3pm unless otherwise stated.

Saturday 6th May

Bournemouth v Chelsea

Chelsea’s fall from grace this season has been stunning and they come into this game without a win in nine and having lost their last six games. Frank Lampard’s return has resulted only in a run of defeats and they face a Bournemouth side in great form after four wins in five moved them right out of the relegation dogfight. Given that form, a home win here is the best option I feel.

Our Tip – Bournemouth to win – 12/5

Manchester City v Leeds United

Can Sam Allardyce come in and produce a miracle result at the Etihad for a beleaguered Leeds team? He was certainly bigging himself up in the week after his appointment as Leeds boss, but I think it is brave to do that ahead of an away trip to a title-chasing Man City team who have won all their last nine EPL games. Peps’ team look like Champions elect and I think they will show Big Sam that despite the big words, it is performance on the pitch that counts.

Our TipBet365 Bet Boost – Man City to win by 3 or more goals, Haaland to score anytime, Grealish over 0.5 assists – 7/2.

Tottenham v Crystal Palace

Tottenham can’t seem to buy a win at the moment, but they have showed some spirit in their last two games, coming from 2-0 behind to draw with Man Utd and then coming from 3-0 to pull level against Liverpool, only to concede a last gasp winner. Roy Hodgson has worked miracles since arriving at Palace to push his team into 11th spot and well away from the relegation battle and I fancy him to get something here too.

Our Tip – Draw and both teams to score – 15/4

Wolves v Aston Villa

A Midlands derby that both teams will want to win for different reasons, as well as bragging rights. Wolves big loss to Brighton last week was a shock and they’ll want to bounce back here but against a Villa side in generally excellent form of late, I think that is going to be a big ask and I am backing the visitors to land the win here.

Our Tip – Correct Score – Wolves 1-2 Aston Villa – 10/1

Liverpool v Brentford (5.30pm)

Liverpool have won all of their last five Premier League games to move clear in fifth, but have they timed their best form of the season a little too late for the Champions League spots? It does look that way and they face a Brentford side who have enjoyed another excellent season in the Premier League to lie 9th. The Bees are unbeaten in their last three, but I think Liverpool will end that here on Saturday.

Our Tip – Cody Gakpo to score at any time – 13/8

Sunday 7th May

Newcastle United v Arsenal (4.30pm)

What a game this should be at St James’ Park with both sides desperate for the win, Arsenal perhaps moreso than Newcastle who have a bit of a gap between themselves and Liverpool in fifth. Arsenal must win to keep the pressure on Manchester City and they face a Newcastle side that have lost just four games all season. I can’t see that happening to be honest, but I think both teams may have to be content with the draw.

Our Tip – Draw and both teams to score – 10/3

West Ham United v Manchester United (7pm)

The evening game on Sunday pits West Ham against Manchester United with the Hammers needing points to avoid the drop and Manchester United needing the win to keep up their hopes of Champions League football with Liverpool closing the gap to them. These games can be tricky to predict so I am going to go with Jarrod Bowen to be an anytime goalscorer at 11/4.

Our Tip – Jarrod Bowen to score at any time – 11/4

Monday 8th May

Fulham v Leicester City

After their draw with Everton on Monday, Leicester now face a Fulham side that have lost their last two narrowly to Manchester City and Liverpool. Marco Silva’s team have had a solid season but are now somewhat adrift in mid-table with little to play for and no Aleksandr Mitrovic due to suspension. Leicester know that they have to keep picking up points and I have a sneaky feeling they may get one here.

Our Tip – Draw.- 5/2

Brighton v Everton (5.30pm)

Along with Southampton, Everton are the team that now need to start winning games. Their problem is they face a Brighton side bang in form after their 6-0 demolition of Wolves last weekend and they achieved that without a number of first teamers who were rested. Everton will have to be at their very best here to get something but even if they are, Brighton would still be favourites for me.

Our Tip – Brighton to win to nil – 5/4

Nottingham Forest v Southampton (8pm)

Both these teams sit in the relegation zone and a defeat for Southampton could well see them relegated for certain if Leeds manage to get an unlikely win at Manchester City. Saints simply must win or their chances of survival will be practically nil. Forest need a win to potentially move out of the relegation zone and I think that with their home support behind them, they may just do that.

Our Tip – Nottingham Forest to win and both teams to score – 10/3
