Euro 2024

Every year we see the emergence of young stars in the EPL, so our question today is who will be the players that emerge as a potential or genuine Premier League Superstar in 2024?

Not only that, but where possible, we’ll explore why this player shows such immense potential and identify any potential betting markets from bet365 Sport, that could be of interest to punters regarding that player, or his club.

Picking the stars of tomorrow isn’t easy. Just ask the BBC.

20 Picks from 2013

Back in 2013, they predicted the top 20 best young Premier League players of 2013. One from each club in the division at that time who they felt could go on to become established Premier League stars.

They were on the money with a number of selections: Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Luke Shaw and Jordan Pickford have gone on to be successful internationals. Ross Barkley remains in the Premier League with Luton, as does Cauley Woodrow.  Adnan Januzaj is plying his trade with Sevilla in Spain.

But there are plenty of misses too Gedion Zelalem? He’s at Den Bosch in the Netherlands, Reise Allassani, Jernade Meade and Jordon Ibe are all in non-league football at Sevenoaks Town, Tonbridge Angels and Ebbsfleet United respectively.

Many others have earned a trade in the Championship, League One or League Two while some are no longer in football.

So, with that in mind, here’s my selection of potential Premier League Superstars of 2024.

Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United) MC

The central midfielder has broken into the first team in recent weeks and his stellar performances anchoring the midfield have not gone unnoticed. He seems to have cemented a place in the first team and it looks like he will be a regular starter for United over the second part of the season.

Connor Bradley (Liverpool) DR

The young full back was Bolton Wanderers player of the year last year when he spent the season on loan at the Reebok Stadium. Since then he has come back to Liverpool and despite being behind Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez for that right back slot, it is clear that Jurgen Klopp trusts the youngster as he has featured in the Carabao Cup and in Europe.

Lewis Miley (Newcastle United) MLC

The 17-year-old was drafted into the Newcastle midfield due to injuries to a number of key players but he has not let Eddie Howe down at all. Tall, languid, but with an excellent tactical understanding of the game, he has also just scored his first goal for the club and it looks like he will be hard to shift from the team even when players return from injury.

Lewis Dobbin (Everton) AML

Lewis Dobbin’s sensational goal against Chelsea brought him to wider attention but the young winger has been catching plenty of praise from a loan spell with Derby and some appearances for Everton in cup games. He is now on the fringes of the first team and showing his talent to a much wider audience.

Djordje Petrovic (Chelsea) G

Chelsea’s young keeper made a name for himself by saving the penalty that took Chelsea into the Carabao Cup semi finals at the expense of Newcastle, but he has actually got a fair bit of experience from his time in Major League Soccer. If Robert Sanchez form dips then I don’t think Mauricio Pochettino will have too many concerns putting him in the first team.

Oscar Bobb (Manchester City) AMLC

A Norwegian international team mate of Erling Haaland, Oscar Bobb is a versatile attacker or attacking midfielder who can play a number of roles but who seems to be particularly adept in front of goal. He has already impressed in the Carabao Cup and in Europe this season and he should feature from the bench in the 2nd half of the campaign.

Jarrell Quansah (Liverpool) DC

The tall Liverpool cenrtre back only got his chance when the Reds suffered a surfeit of injuries in that position earlier in the season, but he took it with aplomb. He has pushed himself into real contention for a first team spot and could have a significant role to play after Joel Matip’s ACL injury.

James McAtee (Sheffield United) MC

A hugely talented midfielder who spent last season out on loan at the Blades too, from his parent club Manchester City. He’s the main attacking force from the Blades midfield and he is already earning some very positive reviews despite playing in a struggling team.

Ben Doak (Liverpool) AMR

Currently out injured and unlikely to be available any time soon, the ex-Celtic winger made a big impression in pre-season for Liverpool with his pace, and crossing ability. He hasn’t forced his way into the team in a major way but he may well come into his own in the latter parts of the second half of the season.

They are the stars that we feel could well make an impact in the Premier League next year but there is also the fact that we have Euro 2024 coming up in the summer.

While that may be too soon for these stars to attract the attention of their National Team managers, if they qualified of course, there are some players who could force their way into Gareth Southgate’s plans.

Cole Palmer (Chelsea) AMC

The former Manchester City man has hit the ground running at Chelsea and has been their best player for the last couple of months. The £40m they paid for him now looks a snip as his form has been so good that there have been calls for an England squad call up.

Tino Livramento (Newcastle United) DR

England have plenty of quality full backs, so Livramento’s inclusion may be a stretch but this young lad has the talent to match the £40m price tag Newcastle paid to land him from Southampton. If he can prove he is an option at left back too for his club, then his chances of getting into the squad would improve a great deal.

James Trafford (Burnley) GK

With Aaron Ramsdale out of the picture at Arsenal, Nick Pope and Dean Henderson injured and England thin on keepers after that, the former U21 goalkeeper who was a star for England in their successful European Championship campaign last summer could well be part of Gareth Southgate’s plans.

Whatever happens, 2024 promises to be an exciting year as a crop of talented young stars make a name for themselves in the Premier League.
