EPL Matchday 5 Fixtures

Kick off times are 3pm unless stated otherwise in brackets.

Friday 17th September

  • Newcastle United v Leeds United (8pm)

Two teams who I feel probably should have had more points on the board then they have at the moment. Of the two, I have been more impressed with Newcastle, despite them having a point less than Leeds, and I think that with home advantage and against a Leeds side without a win, the Magpies should do enough to claim three points here.

TipNewcastle United to win – 2/1

Saturday 18th September

  • Wolves v Brentford (12.30pm)

Saturday’s lunchtime game sees Wolves face Brentford in what is the first game between the two in the Premier League. Brentford have started the season well, but Wolves picked up a big win last week at Watford and I think they are going to be too strong for the Bees here and should land another win, this time at home.

TipWolves to win – 17/20

  • Norwich City v Watford

Norwich are yet to pick up a point this season in the Premier League but I think they will break that duck here against fellow promoted side Watford. The Hornets began the season well but were beaten last week by Wolves and while I think they have enough quality to get something from this game, I am not sure it will be enough to claim the win, hence the draw looks the best option.

TipDraw – 23/10

  • Burnley v Arsenal

Burnley have picked up just one point this season despite playing well in some games, and Arsenal picked up their first win of the campaign at home to Norwich. This is a type of game that the Gunners have come unstuck in sometimes in the past, but I feel that win last week is going to be the start of betting things for them, starting with a narrow win here at Turf Moor.

TipArsenal to win – 19/20

  • Manchester City v Southampton

After the drama of their 6-3 win in the Champions League in midweek, Manchester City should find Southampton a less dangerous opponent than Red Bull Leipzig. The Saints have picked up some good results this season, drawing with Man Utd being one, but I can’t see them getting anything here in what should be a solid and convincing win for the home side.

TipManchester City to win – 1/8

  • Liverpool v Crystal Palace

After a superb performance against Milan in midweek, Liverpool should be confident of picking up three more points here against a Palace side who defeated Spurs 3-0 last weekend. Patrick Vieira will be delighted with that performance and the scale of the result, but I think it will be a different story at Anfield. Expect the home side to come away with another three points and a solid victory here.

TipLiverpool to win – 1/5

  • Aston Villa v Everton (5.30pm)

Everton have started the season well under Rafa Benitez and are one of four teams on ten points at the top of the table. They face a Villa side that have done well investing the cash from the sale of Jack Grealish, but who have not yet quite found their rhythm. I don’t think that is too far away though and I am confident that the home side can pick up something from this game, most likely a point.

TipDraw – 11/5

Sunday 19th September

  • Brighton v Leicester City (2pm)

Brighton have had a superb start to the season and sit just off the pace being set by the teams at the table. However, I think that they are going to find this game a tough one. Leicester have lost a couple of games narrowly of late to West Ham and Man City but I think they will get back to winning ways here by claiming a key win on the road at the Seagulls.

TipLeicester City to win – 7/4

  • West Ham v Manchester United (2pm)

What a game this should be. David Moeys takes on one of his former clubs with a West Ham side that are in excellent form, but facing a Manchester United side also in great form in the league, although they were beaten in the Champions League on Tuesday. I don’t think that is going to matter here though as despite how strongly West Gam have started this season, I feel they will struggle to keep Manchester United’s attack in check here.

TipManchester United to win – 8/11

  • Tottenham v Chelsea (4.30pm)

Another London derby for Spurs, coming after a 3-0 mauling to Crystal Palace last week, and with injury issues at centre back, this doesn’t look like the best of times to be running into a Chelsea side that are unbeaten this season and only second in the table behind Man Utd on goals scored. With two extra days to rest for this game and without any of the injury issues facing Spurs, I am backing Chelsea to come away with what will be a key win for them.

TipChelsea to win – 8/11
