The hugely popular PDC Premier League of Darts may have been on an enforced hiatus for a good few months, but the nine competing players, plus the three challengers yet to play their games, have all been waiting for the go ahead for the restart and the good news for fans and players alike, is that the tournament will restart this week on the evening of Tuesday 25th August.

The tournament has now been restructured, with both the remaining three nights in phase one and the first three in phase two, taking place on successive nights from the 25th to 30th August at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes. There will then be a short break until the 3rd September when the remaining four matchdays in phase 2 will be completed from the 3rd to 6th September, at the same venue. After which we will know what four players will go ahead to contest the playoffs at the 02 Arena in London on October 22.

While there have been a couple of online darts tournaments taking place in recent times, as well as the first PDC event in Milton Keynes after the lockdown, the return of the Premier League is a big positive for darts fans and with the football season now ended, many punters could be tempted to enjoy a bet on the outcome of the matches in this tournament instead. What are our top tips for Tuesday’s night of action and the tournament?

Tuesday night’s games are very interesting with the first game being a real cracker between two players who can blow very hot, or very cold. Michael Smith and Gary Anderson have such talent that I can’t split them and I think a draw is a good bet here. (3/1). I’d also back a similar score in the final game between World Champion Peter Wright and Premier League leader Glen Durrant (also 3/1).

As for those to win their games, I think Daryl Gurney should get the better of challenger Chris Dobey (6/5), while Nathan Aspinall’s good form should be enough to see off Gerwyn Price (6/4). The nap selection though is Michael van Gerwen to beat Rob Cross (4/11) as you can see from the odds on this game.

As for the outright winner, while Michael van Gerwen (evens) is the smart money bet given his record in this event over the years, I think Glen Durrant at 14/1 is superb value, especially as an each way bet.
