Dota 2 Frankfurt Major Gets Under Way on 13th November

DOTA 2 esports bettingValve’s huge $3,000,000 prize for the newly formed Dota Major Championships begins this week after months of eager anticipation. With only The International currently part of the Dota Major Championships rotation, Valve promised that three new Majors would be added to the roster. The Frankfurt Major is the autumn major with a winter and spring major both set to be announced in the future.

This is the first ever event in the new series and with such a massive prize fund at stake, there is expected to be huge interest in this 16-team event, which will bring together the top Dota 2 teams from across the globe.

The action will take place from the Friday 13th November through until the 21st November at the Festhalle Messe concert hall in Frankfurt.

The 16 teams consist of eight teams that qualified (or will qualify) for the tournament through a series of geographic based qualification competitions from around the globe, while eight of the best Dota 2 teams have already been invited to participate in the event.

The eight invited teams are Evil Geniuses, CDEC Gaming, LGD Gaming, Vici Gaming, Vega Squadron, Team Secret, Virtus.pro and EHOME.

Seven of the eight qualifying teams are already known, OG and Alliance qualified from Europe while Cloud9 and Unknown.xiu qualified from the American qualification section. The first Chinese qualifier has been confirmed as Newbee with another still to be decided while Mineski and Fnatic took up the final two place in the competition from South East Asian qualifiers.

The competition has the format of a four, four team groups with the top two teams in each group progressing into the winners bracket Main Event stage of the competition. The teams finishing in the bottom two positions will enter the losers bracket.

Teams that continue to win will play through the Winners bracket until the unbeaten Grand Finalist from the winners bracket is decided. The losers bracket will start off with the eight teams finishing in 3rd and 4th places in the league and then the winners progress into the next round which will see them take on losing teams from the winners bracket and so on until one winner of the Loser bracket remains.

The winners of each bracket will compete in the best of five Grand Final on the 21st November to win this inaugural championship.

Interest in the event is huge with betting on which team will win outright already available with Bet365, who have Team Secret as their 5/2 favourites, with Vici Gaming 10/3, Evil Geniuses 5/1 and EHOME a 6/1 shot. Outsiders are the qualifier teams Cloud9 at 50/1, Mineski at 66/1 and the as yet unknown qualifier from China who you can back at 100/1.

SanDisk StarCraft 2 SHOUTcraft Invitational Returns for a second year

Also starting this week on Friday 13th November is the second SanDisk sponsored SHOUTcraft Invitational event. Eight of the top StarCraft 2 players in the world have been invited to Starcraft 2 Bet365 Bettingparticipate in this event in what is a simple elimination format.

A prize fund of £20,000 has been made available, with the winner taking home $10,000 and the runner up half of that amount.

There are three Protoss players, two Zerg and three Terran players invited to participate and all hail from the SCII hotbed of South Korea.

Zest, PartinG and Stork are the Protoss participants, Solar and Rogue will be battling using the Zerg army while Bomber, TY and ByuN will have the Terran armies at their disposal.

The draw for the quarter final stage, which is the opening round of the competition, will be made later this week and these quarter final games are best of five contests where the winner will progress into the semi finals. The semi finals and finals will both be played over the best of seven and there will be a 3rd Place match to decide the order of the top four placings.

DreamHack Cluj-Napoca Confirms Legend Teams Status And IBUYPOWER Cup Previewed

The draw for the competition will be made later this week and it is a straight knockout event, with the eight teams being drawn into four quarter finals games, followed by two semi finals and the final taking place on the Sunday.

Bet365 currently have team Luminosity down as the 9/4 favourites, with Team Liquid and Cloud9 both 7/2 shots. CLG are currently 7/1, Conquest are 8/1 shots while Renegades are 10/1. The two outsiders are complexity at 14/1 and Winterfox who is the 18/1 outside chance.
