Champions League Semi Finals 2nd Leg

  • Venue – San Siro
  • Head To Head – Played – 202, Milan Wins – 63, Inter Wins – 78, Draws – 61
  • Form – Milan – LLWDD, Inter – WWWWW
  • Champions League Wins – AC Milan – 7, Inter Milan – 3
  • Current bet365 FT Result Odds – Inter– 21/20, AC Milan 11/4, Draw – 23/10

First Leg Review – AC Milan 0-2 Inter

Two early goals in this game put AC Milan on the back foot and have given Inter a fantastic platform to go on and reach the final. Two good finishes from Dzeko and Mkhitaryan handing the away side the win, albeit in the San Siro, setting up another huge game this week.

Second Leg Preview – Inter v AC Milan

The first goal in this game will be crucial, if AC get it, it could be game on. If Inter strike first, that will be the tie over for me and I think the latter is more likely. I fancy Milan, with Leao back fit hopefully, will get a goal in this one, but I think Inter will land the win to reach the final comfortably.

Probable Teams

Inter Milan – (3-5-2) – GK – Onana, DC – Darmian, Acerbi, Bastoni, DMR – Dumfries, DML – Dimarco, MC – Barella, Calhanoglu, Mkhitaryan, AC – Dzeko, Martinez

AC Milan – (4-2-3-1) – GK – Maignan, DR – Calabria, DL – Hernandez, DC – Kjaer, Tomori, DMC – Tonali, Krunic, AMR – Salemaekers, AML – Leao, AMC – Diaz, AC – Giroud

Predicted Score –  Inter Milan 2–1 AC Milan – 8/1

Wednesday 17th May

Manchester City (1) v (1) Real Madrid (8pm)

  • Venue – Etihad Stadium
  • Head To Head – Played 9, Madrid Wins – 3, Man City Wins – 3, Draws – 3
  • Form – Real Madrid – WDWWW; Manchester City – WDWWW
  • Champions League Wins – Real Madrid – 14, Manchester City – 0
  • Current bet365 FT Result Odds – Manchester City – 3/5, R.Madrid – 17/4, Draw – 16/5

First Leg Review – Real Madrid 1-1 Manchester City

A very high-quality game of football ended all-square at the Bernebeu after the home side were pegged back by the visitors. Vinicius Jr. gave Real a first half lead against the run of play but then de Bruyne’s leveller came when Real were in control of the game.

Second Leg Preview – Manchester City v Real Madrid

With home advantage and the Premier League now almost certainly sewn up, City can focus on landing their most desired objective, the Champions League trophy. This will be a closely fought battle, dramatic and with a few goals I feel, but I do think City will progress to the final.

Probable Teams

Manchester City – (3-2-4-1) – GK – Ederson, DC, Walker, Dias, Akanji, DMC, Rodri, Stones, AMR – Silva.B, AML – Grealish, AMC – Gundogan, de Bruyne, AC – Haaland

Real Madrid – (4-3-3) – GK – Courtois, DR – Carvajal, DL – Camavinga, DC, Alaba, Rudiger, MC – Modric, Valverde, Kroos, AMR – Rodrygo, AML – Vinicius Jr., AC – Benzema

Predicted Score –  Manchester City 3-2 Real Madrid – 20/1

Europa League Semi Finals 2nd Leg

Thursday 16th May

Bayer Leverkusen (0) v (1) AS Roma

  • Venue – BayArena
  • Head To Head – Played – 5, AS Roma Wins – 2, Leverkusen Wins – 1, Draws – 2
  • Form – AS Roma – DWLDD; Bayer Leverkusen – DLDWW
  • Europa League Wins – AS Roma – 1, Bayer Leverkusen – 1
  • Current bet365 FT Result Odds – Leverkusen – Evens, AS Roma – 29/10, Draw – 12/5

First Leg Review – AS Roma 1-0 Bayer Leverkusen

Leverkusen dominated possession but were profligate in front of goal as they succumbed to a 1-0 defeat in Rome. The Italian’s strike coming from their 20-year-old midfielder Edouard Bove, who slotted home after Hradecky could only push Abraham’s shot into the path of the young midfielder.

Second Leg Preview – Bayer Leverkusen v AS Roma

With a slender lead from the first leg, I am not sure AS Roma can expect to defend their way to a draw or win here against a talented Leverkusen side. I fancy the Germans to win the home leg but just by the one goal which means we may need extra time to decide the winner here.

Probable Teams

Bayer Leverkusen – (3-4-2-1) – GK – Hradecky, DC – Kossounou, Tah, Tapsoba, DMR – Frimpong, DML – Hincapie, MC – Andrich, Palacios AMC – Diaby, Wirtz AC – Hlozek

AS Roma – (3-4-1-2) – GK – Patricio, DC – Mancini, Ibanez, Cristante, DMR – Celik DML – Spinazzola, MC – Bove, Matic, AMC –Pellegrini, AC – Belotti, Dybala

Predicted Score –  Bayer Leverkusen 2–1 AS Roma – 15/2

Sevilla (1) v (1) Juventus (8pm)

  • Venue – Ramon-Sanchez Pizjuan
  • Head To Head – Played – 5, Juventus Wins – 2, Sevilla Wins – 1, Draws – 2
  • Form – Juventus – WDWWD; Sevilla – WDWLW
  • Europa League Wins – Juventus – 3, Sevilla – 6
  • Current bet365 FT Result Odds – Sevilla – 7/5, Juventus– 21/10, Draw – 11/5

First Leg Review – Juventus 1-1 Sevilla

Sevilla dominated the second leg and really should have led by more than En-Neysri’s first half strike before Juventus landed their 97th minute leveller. En-Neysri and Ocampos both missing great chances for the Spanish side before Gatti headed home late on to give the home side an undeserved draw.

Second Leg Preview – Sevilla v Juventus

After seeing how Sevilla dominated the first leg, and their record in this competition, it is hard to against them here even against a very talented Juventus side whose better performances have come on the road. If Sevilla can beat Man Utd 3-0 at home they can earn the win over Juventus too.

Probable Teams

Sevilla – (4-2-3-1) – GK – Bono, DR – Navas DL – Acuna, DC, Gudelj, Bade, DMC, Rakitic, Fernando, AMR – Gil, AMC – Oliver, AML – Ocampos, AC – En-Neysiri

Juventus – (3-5-1-1) – GK – Szczesny, DC – Sandro, Bonucci, Danilo, DMR – Cuadrado, DML – Kostic, MC – Rabiot, Locatelli, Miretti, AMC – Di Maria, AC – Vlahovic

Predicted Score – Sevilla 2–1 Juventus – 17/2

Europa Conference League Semi Finals 2nd Leg

Thursday 18th May

AZ Alkmaar (1) v (2) West Ham United (8pm)

  • Venue
  • Head To Head – Played – 1, AZ Wins – 0, West Ham Wins – 1, Draws – 0
  • Form – West Ham – LWWLL, AZ Alkmaar – WLDWW
  • Conference League Wins – West Ham – 0, AZ Alkmaar – 0
  • Current bet365 FT Result Odds – AZ 17/10, West Ham – 31/20, Draw – 12/5

First Leg Review – West Ham 2-1 AZ Alkmaar

AZ took the lead in the first half through Reijnders whose shot from outside the box arrowed into the bottom corner. West Ham were gifted an equaliser from the spot after Ryan fouled Bowen, with Benrahma converting very well and then the Hammers won it with Antonio’s bundled finish from Aguerd’s header which was blocked on the line by Sugiwara.

Second Leg Preview – AZ Alkmaar v West Ham

There’s still plenty to play for for AZ here and they will be heartened by their first half display in London. But the Hammers have been excellent away from home in this competition this season and if that continues, I can see them landing the draw that they would need to reach the final.

Probable Teams

AZ Alkmaar – (4-2-3-1) – GK – Ryan, DR – Sugawara, DL – De Wit, DC – Hatzidiakos, Beukama, DMC – Reijnders, Clasie, AMR – Odgaard, AML – van Brederode, AMC – Mijnans, AC – Pavlidis

West Ham – (4-2-3-1) – GK – Areola DR – Kehrer, DL – Cresswell, DC – Aguerd, Zouma, DMC – Rice, Soucek, AMR – Bowen, AML – Benrahma, AMC – Paqueta, AC – Antonio

Predicted Score –  AZ Alkmaar 1-1 West Ham – 6/1

FC Basel (2) v (1) Fiorentina (8pm)

  • Venue – St. Jakob-Park
  • Head To Head – Played – 3, Fiorentina Wins – 0, FC Basel Wins – 2, Draws – 1
  • Form – Fiorentina – WLLDW, FC Basel – LWWLW
  • Conference League Wins – Fiorentina – 0, FC Basel – 0
  • Current bet365 FT Result Odds – FC Basel – 18/5, Fiorentina 3/4, Draw – 11/4

First Leg Review – Fiorentina 1-2 FC Basel

FC Basel’s second half counter-attacking display proved to be the difference between the team as Cabral’s opener for Fiorentina was cancelled out with two strikes in the second period by Diouf and an injury time Amdouni strike.

Second Leg Preview – FC Basel v Fiorentina

Fiorentina have won their last four away games in this competition, 4-1. 4-0, 3-0 and 4-1, so they won’t be too daunted here. Basel will try to play on the counter again but I don’t think lightning will strike twice here and I am backing the Italians to get the win they need.

Probable Teams

FC Basel – (3-1-4-2) – GK – Hitz, DC – Lang, Kasim, Pelmard, DMC – Xhaka, AMR – Ndoye, AML – Calafiori, AMC – Diouf, Burger, AC – Augustin, Amdouni

Fiorentina – (4-3-3) – GK – Terracciano, DR – Dodo, DL – Biraghi, DC – Martinez, Ranieri MC – Bonaventura, Mandragora, Amrabat, AMR – Gonzalez, AML – Ikone, AC – Cabral

Predicted Score –  FC Basel 1–3 Fiorentina – 12/1
