Bayern Munich’s victory away to Dortmund around 10 days ago, seemingly put the Bundesliga title race to bed, especially with other chasers, Leverkusen, Borussia Moenchengladbach and Red Bull Leipzig all also dropping points at the same time. Bayern now have a seven-point lead in the table and with just five games to go, it looks likely that an eighth consecutive Bundesliga title will be theirs.
Three wins from their final five games will secure Bayern the title but given they have won 18 of the last 19, it does look like a formality. However, a couple of major obstacles are in their way, with one coming up this weekend in the shape of an away trip to Bayer Leverkusen.
Leverkusen, along with Borussia Moenchengladbach, are the two teams to have beaten Bayern in the league since Hansi Muller took over as manager (a 2-1 win in Munich earlier on in the season) so they know they are well capable of landing a win here and perhaps opening up the title race a little more once again.

Kevin Volland remains absent from the Leverkusen side due to a ligament tear sustained back in February, although it is thought he is not too far from a comeback having been on the bench at Freiburg last week. In ternms of the team, it seems likely that Peter Bosz will name an unchanged team to the one that beat Freiburg in their last game on the road.

Bayern Munich Team News and Possible XI
Bayern will have been boosted with the news that Thiago is back in full time training and should be fit to make his return. Lucas Hernandez though is set to join Philippe Coutinho and Niklas Sule in missing out. Having scored at the rate of a goal a game this season, Robert Lewandowski will likely continue in attack with Leon Goretzka coming into the team to replace Hernandez who started the last game against Dusseldorf.
Bayern Munich Possible XI – (4-2-3-1) – Neuer, Pavard, Davies, Alaba, Boateng, Kimmich, Goretzka, Gnabry, Konan, Muller, Lewandowski.
Bayer Leverkusen v Bayern Munich – Tips and Odds
So with two of the biggest teams in the Bundesliga, certainly in terms of recent success, battling it out against each other, how do we see the game going?
Leverkusen’s home record had been pretty good until late. They have beaten Dortmund at home recently and also earned a draw at Red Bull Leipzig, as well as beating Bayern in Munich. But as their game with Wolfsburg showed, teams that are well organised and can create on the counter or from set pieces, can cause them huge problems.
Bayern can do that in spades and given the steamroller form they are showing at the moment, it is impossible to back against them here. So a Bayern win would be my initial pick, which is a 4/9 shot with bet365 at the moment.
As for a correct score bet, games between these teams tend to have both teams scoring and I can see that happening again at the weekend given the attacking talent on show. I’d plump for a 2-1 win to Bayern Munich here which is 15/2.
For my last bet, I’d back an anytime goalscorer bet and I think Kai Havertz of Leverkusen at 13/10 is the best option here.
