Bet Victor Online Poker iPad

Cash games are arguably the purest form of poker that there is and on BetVictor Poker, you have plenty of choices if you want to try and improve the state of your bankroll by using the cash tables.

How to get started playing

Accessing the cash tables is very easy – simply log in and click on the Cash Games box from the main tabs at the top of the screen.

This brings up a list of all the various Cash Tables currently in operation (as shown in the screenshot below).

Depending on what type of game you would like to play, there are some intriguing options available for players who want to play at the Cash Tables:

  • Turbo – Cash Tables where players only have a few seconds to make their choice about their choice of bet. This means you play more hands in a shorter space of time.

  • Blaze – A new development on BetVictor, Blaze Poker allows you to play hands against other players on ever changing tables. At the end of each hand, new players will automatically be added from other tables and other players move to new tables, so you seldom face the same players in each hand.

  • Anonymous – If you don’t want to let others know who you are, then you can play on anonymous tables, meaning that all users identities are kept secret. This does mean you can avoid the poker sharks who try to single out those less able players and milk them of their cash.

The Cash Games on BetVictor Poker are also organised into the Small/Big Blind stakes levels, and you can elect to play for micro stakes of 0.01/0.02 per hand, right the way through to games where the small and big blinds are £50/£100.

Once you have decided which type of game you want to play then you can head to the table and be dealt into the hand.

Playing at the cash tables

The first thing to note for new players is that playing at a Cash Table requires a very different set of skills to playing in a Sit & Go event or MTT. Whereas in those events there is a stated goal or requirement to eliminate other players, on the cash table it is all about preserving your stack and increasing it.

As such, the gameplay on cash tables tends to be at a much slower pace, with players less likely to take large risks with their pot unless they believe they have a very strong hand. To use a poker term, play is very, very tight in general and the level of play on these tables is, I believe, better than in the Sit & Go and MTTs in general.

If you want a more loose game, then I’d recommend playing on the Blaze tables, where the nature of changing opponents does tend to make players more open to making larger bets more frequently. Once again though, the standard of play here is very good and it is not the ideal learning ground for novice players, who may find their chip stack being eaten away very quickly.

Regardless of whether you are playing for micro stakes, or the biggest blinds permissible on the site, the key to achieving success in the Cash Games on BetVictor Poker is a combination of many things. Certainly, I would recommend that you have an in-depth knowledge of the game and are familiar with at least basic poker strategy (and ideally more advanced strategy). I’d also supplement this knowledge with plenty of games on the free to play cash tables. Lastly and arguably the most important skill you need is patience.

It can be hard if you are a novice player who likes to play hands, to sit there and fold hand after hand and see your stack slowly eroded by paying the small and big blinds, but if you are not receiving good cards, then this is something you will have to do.

The hand shown above is a good example. I was 7c down at this point due to paying another Big Blind, but I had absolutely no help from the cards for several hands. Therefore, my play for the first ten or fifteen minutes at the table consisted of me folding almost every hand.

As a player who likes to get involved in the action when I can, this is a tough thing to do and should not be underestimated. An impatient player on the cash table is usually a player who is going to end up with markedly less cash than when they started.

Another good tip on the cash tables is to not chase your losses. If you are down at the end of a session, don’t try and recoup it with a reckless big bet and I certainly would advise against bluffing. Take the loss on the chin, save the chips you have left for another day when perhaps the cards are falling more kindly for you.

To conclude, the Cash Games on BetVictor Poker are a real test of your poker mettle and I would strongly advise novice players to gain as much free experience and play the cheapest possible games initially. Cash Games are very different to MTTs and Sit & Go events, and tests a range of different poker skills, but it is one of the most enjoyable forms of the game you can play and it is certainly one of the better features of the BetVictor Poker site.
